In this section of our Simple Machines Forum tutorial we will show you how to install extra languages to your platform. This can be very important in such cases in which the members of your discussion board are located in different countries and the topics are commented in several languages.
The first step you need to undertake is to go to the official SMF packages marketplace and download the language pack that suits your needs on your local computer.
Next go to Admin > Configuration > Languages > Add Language:
On the new page you should type the language you need and click on the Search button:
Now select the language in question and click on the Install button:
You will be displayed with a list of the files associated with the new language. To complete the installation just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Install button.
It is important to make sure that the Enable user-selectable language support option is enabled on your forum. To do this you should navigate to Admin > Configuration > Languages > Settings:
Once this option is enabled the members of your discussion board should be able to select the new language as a default one for their account by navigating to their Profile > Profile Features > Account Settings page:
