PrestaShop faq

They are fully compatible with all of our servers. You just have to upload the needed files onto the server and you are ready to start developing your online project.

PrestaShop provides its users with the ability to sell whatever their merchandise is. The application allows and can accommodate the sale of both physical goods as well as any kind of digital goods, such as downloadable products or services. The script gives you the ability and flexibility to build the perfect online store for your specific needs.

With PrestaShop you can get a lot of different features, which could be installed as modules. The application is completely free for everybody. It also provides a lot of flexibility for its users, such as its famous Multistore option.

Multistore is one of the great built-in features of the PrestaShop application. It gives you the ability to have unlimited amount of online shops in a single website, thus providing you with extreme flexibility.

If you want to use this feature you just have to enable it. To do that - go to the Administration backend > Preferences > General. Once you are there just select “Yes” next to Enable Multistore.

If you have done the procedure correctly you would then be able to create brand new online shops in just one click.

It is also helpful to know that you can choose one of the many themes and plugins, which you can search for on your Main Store.

In case that your PrestaShop website is not working properly and it is displaying this message you need to take some steps in order to rectify this issue.

The first thing you need to do is to simply rename the .htaccess file of your application to .htaccess_old. By doing so you would be able to access the Administration Area of the application and revert the changes, which caused this issue to occur in the first place.

Once this has been done you need to create a new .htaccess file. To do that requires you to take another couple of steps.

Go to the PrestaShop Admin backend > Preferences > SEO and URLs and disable the Friendly URL option then save it and turn it back on. This would force the application to recreate the .htaccess file in its original state.

If you have the Multistore option activated your way of getting the “.htaccess” back on is to go to Preferences > General and just disable the Multistore option and then enable it back again.

The first step you need to take in order to begin the installation process is to download the theme of your choice. Once you have it on your computer just go to Admin Panel > Preferences and in the drop down menu, choose Themes.

Once you have the page with the already installed themes simply click on Add New Theme. Then in the Import page, which will load click on Add File. Afterwards choose the file you have downloaded earlier (usually .zip file) and click Save.

To conclude the procedure you need to activate the fresh new theme from the Theme section, where you will automatically land after the installation process has finished.

There is a very straightforward way to do that. First, you need to download the module you want to install on your computer. Next go to Administration Panel > Modules and once you are there simply click on Add new module. Then on the window which will appear click on Browse, select the file you just downloaded and click on the Upload this module button. This would effectively conclude the first part of the installation process.

To check if the installation has been successful and continue further go to the list of modules in the Module section. Locate the one you have just uploaded in that list and click on the Install button next to it.

This task can be easily completed. Here are the steps you need to follow for a proper configuration to take place:

Go to Administration Panel > Advanced Parameters and navigate to the Email section.Select Set my own SMTP parameters.

Once you have done that - enter the following details:

Mail domain name - this is the domain name on which your email account is residing. Keep in mind that this field may also be left empty.
SMTP server - the hostname of the server where your website is hosted.
SMTP user - your email account’s username.
SMTP password - enter the password for the email account above.
The Encryption setting is good to be SSL or TLS for safety reasons. Be aware that both of them have different ports as well - 587 for TLS and 465 for SSL.

These steps would successfully conclude the configuration process.

The caching system, which PrestaShop is using is built-in and it is called Smarty. There are actually two ways to clear the cache - through the Administration Panel or manually from the server, but keep in mind we highly recommend the usage of the first one. Here are some details on how you can perform the clearing process:

Go to Administration Panel > Advanced Parameters > Performance. Once there, you should click on the Force compile button and enable the option. Then click Save at the bottom right corner. Go to your homepage and refresh.

For any online business the customers are the most essential part of it and taking a very good care of them is of utmost priority. Considering this fact, PrestaShop has implemented some outstanding customer management features.

You can locate them in the Customers menu. Once you are there you can review the detailed information available for your customers, such as their current shopping carts, customer services and many more. As an example of an additional feature you have in the menu in question is the ability to create groups for special customers who will receive a discount upon purchase.

A key element for any eCommerce platform are the shipping methods it can offer to the customers. With PrestaShop you will get a huge variety of options available.

You can find all of them in the Shipping section of the menu. Once you are there you should be able to see all the submenus, such as Handling, Carrier Options and much more.
