Zen Cart faq

All of our servers are fully compatible with the Zen Cart application. You can simply deploy all of the needed files on our server and start working on you online project straight away.

Zen Cart is a free eCommerce platform, which is open-source and is based on PHP and MySQL. The application is very user-friendly and has a flexible interface. It can accommodate with ease both small stores and large online retailers.

The script also has a lot of built-in features, which are very useful. Apart from that, you can also extend your website’s functionality by downloading and installing some of the many customized plugins.

Zen Cart has a coupon system, which allows you to provide such to your customers. In order to do that you will need to enable this option by navigating to Administration Area > Modules > Order Total > Discount Coupons.

At the same place, after everything is setup, you can start managing your customer’s coupons.

Zen Cart is a platform for eCommerce and has a built-in system, which will allow you to use a really wide range of payment methods. It will give you and your customers the flexibility to choose one that suits the specific needs of your store. Some of the prebuilt payment gateways are Authorize.net, Linkpoint/YourPay API, PayPal, USA ePay. If you need an additional one you can simply find it as an appropriate plugin and install it on your application.

There might be some reasons why you are not receiving such emails. First of all you have to be aware that when you place an order in your online shop and the transaction has been cleared - the email confirmation is being generated automatically. It may also take around 10-15 minutes for the email to go through, so in most cases just waiting for a while is the best way to go.

If you haven’t received the confirmation even after that period, you can also check your junk mail, because some providers might have considered the message as SPAM. Also, make sure you have spelled your email address correctly and double-check it. Finally, if the issue persists, you should also check your email configuration settings through Administration Area > Configuration > Email options.

A secure connection is essential for any online shop, as the clients are using different payment methods and private business information is also imperative to be protected. That is why we highly recommend the installation of an SSL certificate, which will encrypt the data transmitted between the server and the users of your website.

When it is successfully installed and the application is properly configured all of the visitors will be able to access the website using SSL.

Zen Cart has great built in features but you will also have the ability to expand its functionality even further. You can easily do that by installing a variety of different plugins or modules, which are available. They can definitely help you with tailoring your eCommerce platform by your specific needs. The plugins are also intuitive and easy to install and the only thing you have to do is to follow the step-by-step installation tutorial, provided by the vendor.

The error message in question might be caused be several issues. Some of the reasons for them are the following:

  • Old and obsolete template files.
  • You are using Private Browsing Mode.
  • You have set up your online platform on a temporary URL instead your actual domain

The issue you are referring to is generally associated with the size of the images. When the platform is configured with specific image size for width and height and the images you upload are not with the same size the might become unsorted.

You can quickly resolve this issue by going to Administration Area > Configuration > Images.
Once you are there, you will be able to choose from a variety of image sizes. Then simply set the one you need. You can also set the Calculate Image Size option to true and the Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories to 1 as this will enable the images to be resized based on their own proportions and thus the issue would be permanently fixed.

This is a rare issue, but it is nevertheless a very important one as it can disturb your customers. There are some factors, which can cause it to appear and thus there are different solutions. In order to investigate the issue, simply go to Administration Area > Modules > Payment and check the following:

  • If the payment module is not installed just click the Install button on the right-hand side.
  • If it is not enabled then click the Edit button and turn it on by setting the true/false or on/off status there.
  • Check if you have any Zones associated with the payment module and if you do then you will be allowed to use it during checkout by just removing the Zone configuration from the payment module.

To configure the zones associated with the payment modules you need to create such manually in such way that they fully match the customers’ addresses.

PayPal allows you to set up its parameters on different Zen Car websites and configure them with the same API credentials. Also be aware that Zen Cart will automatically provide PayPal with the address of your store when a payment is submitted. To enable the feature you just have to enable the Instant Payment Notification (IPN) in your PayPal account profile, under Website Payment Receiving Preferences.
