OsCommerce does not have 'under maintenance' feature by default, therefore, in order to put your store under maintenance, you will need either to install an addon which will allow you this feature or to edit your index.php file. The easiest way to put your store under maintenance mode is to make a copy of your index.php file after what you will edit it with a template which will notify your visitors that your store is currently under maintenance.

The newsletter feature will allow you to notify your customers about your products and site news. In order to enable the newsletter feature, navigate to your administration area ­> Tools ­ > Newsletter Manager. In this page, you will be able to check your existing newsletters and create a new newsletter from where you will notify your clients.

If you would like to change the number of reviews which is displayed for your products, navigate to your administration area > Configuration > Maximum values. In this page, click on New Reviews > Edit. A new window will be displayed where you can edit the value for 'New Reviews' and set the desired number of reviews which will be displayed for your products.

In case you have lost the password for your administration area, you can easily change it by accessing the cPanel where your website is hosted. In the cPanel, navigate to Databases menu from where you can access PhpMyAdmin. In PhpMyAdmin, from the left side you will be able to access your database by clicking on its name.

Once you have accessed your database, find the table named "administrators" (without quotes) and access it by clicking on its name. As soon as you access this table, you will be able to see your username and in order to change the password, click on the “Edit” button. Here, you will need to edit the field named “user_password” – in “Value” enter your new password and from the drop-­down menu in Function select “MD5”. Once this is done, simply click on the “Go” button and your changes will be saved.

To edit the links for the social profiles on your store (which are usually displayed in the footer), navigate to your administration area > Configuration > My Store. In this page, you will be able to edit the links for the desired social profile by selecting it and clicking on the “Edit” button, after what you will need to enter the link for the actual social profile.

If you would like to enable SEO URLs on your store, access your administration area and navigate to Configuration ­> SEO URLs. Once you access this page, select "Enable SEO URLs" and click "Edit" where you should choose "true" and hit the "Save" button.

You can easily change and upload your logo by accessing your administration area. In your administration area, click on the "Store Logo" from the left column under the Configuration. In this page, you will be able to upload the new logo for you store and once the logo is uploaded, click on the "Save" button in order to save the changes.

In order to configure your store to be accessible via "https" protocol (with SSL), you will need to edit the following file in the folder where your osCommerce is installed:

- catalog/includes/configure.php

In this file, the first three lines needs to be edited to:

- define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.yourdomain.com');
- define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://yourdomain.com');
- define('ENABLE_SSL', true);

If you would like the administration area to be accessible via “https” protocol too, the following file needs to be edited too with the sale values:

- catalog/admin/includes/configure.php

Keep in mind that you will need to replace “yourdomain.com” with the actual domain name under which your store is configured.
