How to install new themes in SocialEngine
We will show you in a few simple steps how to install a new theme using the SocialEngine administrator back-end. The script developers have created a pretty easy and fast way to manage that.
Note that you should first download the theme .tar archive on your computer. Ensure that you have any licenses required to use the package you will be installing.
The first step is to login to the administrator back-end of the script:
http://yourdomain.com/admin
When the page is completely rendered navigate to the Manager > Packages and Plugins menu:

Here you will notice the “Install New Packages” link:

The next step will be to upload the package file using the “Add Packages” link:

After the upload bar is on 100% you could add a second package to install. However it is recommended to add one package at a time:

The page which follows is just informative and you could just click on ‘Continue’.
The next step is to enter the FTP access details for your application or if you do not have such select “none” and this way you will use the internal function of the SocialEngine to upload/extract the package on the server and install it. It is up to you to choose the most appropriate option for your needs:

The script will automatically detect the absolute path to its installation directory so you could continue here without any further changes required.
The next three steps are just informative and you could just click the continue button until you see:
Awesome! The installation has been completed successfully. You can now return to the package manager or your dashboard.
You could return to your admin panel now and set the new theme as default for your website. You could easily accomplish this via the the Layout > Theme Editor menu:

You will notice the files editor and the “Available Themes” sections. Under the “Available Themes” tab we have the newly installed design:

Just click on “Activate Theme” and it should be loaded as default one within seconds:
