Automatic SMF Installation

Fantastico is really a great tool and SMF is one of the first scripts ever included in it. It saves a lot of time in installing applications to all of us. It will save a lot of your time, too. In order to install SMF using Fantastico, you should first login at your cPanel. It is located at www.yourdomain.com/cpanel.

There you should find the blue smiley face icon which is the entrance for Fantastico.

As you will see, there are a lot of pieces of software in this great tool, however we are going to install only SMF (in this tutorial) now. You will find a link named SMF in the menu on the left, under the Discussion Boards category:

Click on it, and you will be taken to the applicaiton's overview page. In order to proceed with the installation, click the "New Installation" link:

The (normal) Fantastico installation usually contains three steps. The first one is the most important. In it you have to fill in the details of your application.

First of all, you should choose an installation directory. If you would like to access your SMF using www.yourdomain.com, you should leave the first field blank. If you would like to access it using http://www.yourdomain.com/forum, you should fill the first field with "forum" (or substitute with one of your choice) and that's all.

Then you have to fill in the administrator login details. In the automated installation, the first user is being created during the process and not after it, as in the manual one. When you are done, click "Install SMF" button.
