Magento Tutorial

Magento Basic Configuration

Congratulations on having completed the Magento installation. Now proceed with your web site construction. By default the main page looks like this:

You need to navigate to the Magento's admin area if you want to start populating your web site with content:

Use the details entered during the script installation to log in and navigate to System -> Configuration. Here you can configure the script options according to your personal needs. Most options are self explanatory:

Open the Catalog -> Manage Categories section when you are ready with the configuration. Now you create a new category; the name is only the attribute you need.

You do not have to adjust the other settings. You can add some products under it when you have a new category. You can do this through the section Catalog -> Manage Products. Click on the button [Add Products]:

Click on the button [Continue]:

Enter some details for your product:

Click on the button [Create New Attribute] and you will be able to enhance the options that are available for your products:

When you are ready with the attribute, click on the button [Save Attribute]. In order to store your product information you should click on the button [Save]. At this point there will be prompts for the price of the product. You can enter the default price, a special price and its validity, the cost and if it is taxable:

To continue, click on the button [Save]. The new product has to be assigned to a chosen category. After that you should specify the available quantity of the product and if it is in the stock.

You can check product reviews, product tags and the other options as well.Having done this, click on the button [Save]. Your online shop has the new product added. From the category Catalog you can also: rewrite URLs for the products, manage the attributes, edit tags, perform searches, generate a GoogleMap and manage ratings and reviews:

The section Promotions is for setting promotions, defining the rules for them and the groups of customers for which the promotions are valid:

At the Magento admin area -> Reports you can obtain various comprehensive statistics and reports.
