Category Manager Overview

 

Joomla categories are managed from the "Categories" menu which is located in the "Content" section. It can be accessed from the top menu:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Through the category manager you can modify all of the aspects of your Joomla categories. There is quite a useful menu which is located on the right top side of the screen.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

- New -- using this one you can create a new category.
- Publish -- using this button you can make public a previously selected category.
- Unpublish -- with this button you can take off publicity of a category.
- Move -- using this one you can consolidate several categories in one. It can also be used for changing their order of appearance.
- Copy -- using this one you can copy the chosen category to a new one. Quite useful for duplication.
- Delete -- this button deletes categories. Use it with caution. Its actions are undoable.
- Edit -- this button leads you to the category edit menu.
- Help -- this button will show you the official Joomla 1.5 documentation.
