How to get started in Dolphin administration

When you login in the Dolphin administration for the first time, you will be asked that you enter a license.

If you feel like worrying that you have thought Dolphin is free, but now you are asked to pay – set such feelings off of your mind. Dolphin provides different tiers of ownership, one and most popular of which is free. A separate section in this tutorial (How to find out which Dolphin commercial license is most suitable for me?) outlines this part of the Dolphin application. Of course, if you have already purchased one of the BoonEx licenses for Dolphin, now is a suitable time to enter it. If not, you can click on the “continue using an unregistered copy” link, however you are warned that in that case, links to BoonEx ads and promo blocks will remain on your site and admin panel.

When you login for the first time in the Dolphin administration panel, you might be confused a bit – do not worry however – things are organized and stacked in groups of relevancy, so that you do not get lost in it or put useless attention in finding out a function:

As you see, we have outlined the four navigation groups in the Admin area in the above image. Briefly, the first one, designated as “1” on the screenshot, contains the top menu links, which will be always available in your admin area, no matter on which screen you are. These are handy links to the main admin page, the menu builder, the front page of the website, as well as links to the BoonEx website, Dolphin extensions gallery, as well as to the BoonEx Wiki. A button for logging you out stands there, as well.

The second one, designated as “2” on the screenshot, contains a quick overview of your social network. It includes information on how much members you have and provides quick link to Dolphin’s cache management tool, as well as to your messages’ inbox.
The third one, designated as “3” on the screenshot, contains an RSS feed with the latest Dolphin, BoonEx and Unity news.

The fourth one, designated as “4” on the screenshot is, in fact, the most important menu of the Dolphin administration. It contains links to the Members’ setup page, Modules setup page, Menu and page builders, as well as links to tuning up various settings. This menu will also be immutably present on the left side of the screen, no matter where you are located within the administrator area.
