How to install CS-Cart Shopping Cart

Chapter 2. Upload Files

Chapter 2.1. You may uncompress the distribution file of the application on your local computer and upload all the files in the folder, where you would like to have the CS-Cart application installed. For more information on how to setup your favorite FTP client, please, check here:

The CS-Cart file can also be extracted directly on your hosting account. Firstly, you should upload it under the folder you would like the application to be installed. After uploading the file, you should extract it under the folder it is located. To extract the file, use the File Manager in your cPanel.

Chapter 2.2. Proceed to the CS-Cart installation directory and change file access permissions.

Please, change the permissions of the following files:

admin.php
config.php
index.php
image.php

and of the following folders:

var
images
skins

To 755.

Please, note that the permissions are not set recursively via cPanel. You can change the permissions through cPanel > File Manager. You can use an FTP client as an alternative.

Chapter 3. Having uploaded the installation files to your account, you should open the CS-Cart Installation Wizard in your browser at:

http://www.yoursite.com/cscart_dir/

The following message will be seen:

CS-Cart is not installed. Please click here to start the installation process: [install]

In order to proceed with the installation, you should click the install button.

The first two steps of the installation are License agreement and Requirements checking. When you agree with the terms and see that all requirements are met:

you should click on Next to go to the Host and database settings. Here it is how the settings should be set:

You should have a private SSL to use the secure server with your domain. You can purchase a certificate from your Client Area if you do not have one yet.

Please, enter localhost for Database server host. In the fields for database name, user and password you should enter the MySQL database, username and password you created during the database setup.

Next, you should enter a secret key to your preference and the administrator e-mail. If you intend to use additional languages, you may also choose them.

It is also recommendable to install the demo catalog.

When you are ready with the details, click on Next. You will be able to choose a skin for your CS-Cart after the database is installed and configured.

When you are ready, click on Next to install the skin.

If everything has been installed in a correct way, you will be taken to the Summary page, which is the last for the CS-Cart installation.

Due to security reasons it is strongly recommendable to remove or rename install.php file. Please, make sure you bookmark the two links for your shop's front and back-end, as you will be using them quite often.
