How to install Coppermine gallery

 

Coppermine Photo Gallery is an advanced, user-friendly, picture gallery script with built-in support for other multi-media/data files. The gallery can be private, accessible to registered users only, and/or open to all visitors to your site. Users, if permitted, can upload pictures with their web browser (thumbnail and intermediate sized images are created on the fly), rate pictures, add comments and even send e-cards. The site administrator determines which of the features listed above are accessible by registered and non-registered users. The site administrator can also manage galleries and batch process large numbers of pictures that have been uploaded onto the server by FTP.

 

If you have followed our tutorials section, you might already know that Fantastico is really a great tool. It saves a lot of time in installing applications to all of us. For sure, it will save a lot of your time, too. In order to install Coppermine using Fantastico, you should first login at your cPanel. It is located at www.yourdomain.com/cpanel.

 

There, you should find the blue smiley face icon, which is the entrance for Fantastico.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As you will see, there aremany pieces of software in this great tool, however we are going to install only Coppermine (in this tutorial). You will find a link named Coppermine in the menu on the left, under the Content Management category:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Click on it, and you will be taken to the application's overview page. To proceed with the installation, click the "New Installation" link:

 

 

 

 

 

The (normal) Fantastico installation contains three steps. The first one is the most important. In it usually you have to fill in the details for your application.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First of all, you should choose an installation directory. If you would like to access your Coppermine using www.yourdomain.com, you should leave the first field blank. If you would like to access it using http://www.yourdomain.com/coppermine, you should fill in the first field with "coppermine" (or substitute with one of your choice) and that's all.

 

Then you have to fill the administrator login details. In the automated installation, the first user is being created during the process and not after it, as in the manual one.

 

When you are done, click "Install Coppermine Photo Gallery" button.

 

 

 

 

 

 

You will be forwarded to a confirmation page. If you need to make any changes of the above configuration, it is just the right time to click back and perform them. If you have no changes to perform, just click on the "Finish installation" button and hold your breath.

 

 

 

 

 

When the next page loads your Coppermine installation is completed. You will be provided with all the neccessary login details and you are ready to go.
