WordPress Tutorial
How to manually install WordPress via FTP and MySQL
In order to perform a manual installation of WordPress under your hosting account you will need to download the latest stable version of WordPress. This can be done from the official WordPress website.
After having your latest.tar.gz file download, please unzip it on your local computer. The unzip files should be uploaded under your hosting account where you would like to have WordPress installed. This can be done via FTP client by following the instructions in our great ftp video tutorial.
If you would like to have your WordPress blog directly accessible at http://yourdomain.com you should upload the WordPress files under the public_html directory. On the other hand, if you would like to have it located under a subfolder you may create a subdirectory of your public_html folder where the files should be uploaded. If you upload your files under /public_html/blog/ your WordPress installation will be accessible under http://yourdomain.com/blog
As soon as your files are uploaded under your account you should proceed with your MySQL database creation process. You can easily create a MySQL database for your blog by following the instructions in our tutorial.
When all the steps are completed on your end you may access the folder where your WordPress has been uploaded via your browser using http://yourdomain.com/ or http://yourdomain.com/subfolder The following page should be displayed on your browser:
