Create a Microblogging website with WordPress

In our previous article we have introduced you to Laconica open source microblogging application and some its key features which can help you to create a Twitter clone website. Still, Laconica is not the only platform that can be used to create a microblogging website.

WordPress is another platform which can be easily customized in order to apply all the core functions required for a nice looking microblog website. To achieve this you will need only a WordPress installation and P2: The New Prologue theme for WordPress. For step by step instructions how to install WordPress you can always refer to our WordPress tutorial.

As soon as you have a WordPress installed you can download the P2 theme from the WordPress Theme directory. After you have installed and activated the P2 theme for your WordPress your blog fron page will be converted into a Twitter-liked microblogging paltform.

All logged users will be displayed with a text box where they can input their status updates and post it on the wall:

Create a Twitter clone website
